How Do I Start My Fitness Journey?

So you have made a decision to change your lifestyle and make yourself a healthier person. Congratulations! You have just taken the first step to a happier and healthier version of you. Now what?? Where do I go?? What do I do??


It can be very overwhelming trying to answer these questions. The internet is loaded with gurus and "experts" with the new quick fix trend that can solve all your health problems in 6, 8, or 12 weeks. First off there is no quick fix to fitness and health. It is a life long journey that takes dedication and commitment. There will be struggles and failures but, if you truly make the commitment, it can lead you to a better place in many areas of your life.


So what is the first step? Well, besides contacting Higher Calling Fitness, you must set goals. Not just lose weight or look better types of goals. S.M.A.R.T goals. Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time bound. So instead of "I want to lose weight"., the SMART goal would be I want to lose 15 pounds in 8 weeks or by January 1st I would like to drop 8% of my body fat. Goals should be challenging but not out of reach. You should also have long term and short term goals. A long term goal could be getting off of your blood pressure medications with in a 12 months, for example.
