A few months ago I was given the opportunity to start training a special young man. This young man is 28 years old, autistic, and 385 pounds. When we first started working together he was an "I can't" kind of guy. He complained about EVERYTHING. He quit on me a few times. He threw a few fits. He HATED to exercise. Any little bit of discomfort he was complaining about how much pain he was in. Any little bit of difficulty and the words "I CAN'T" flowed from his lips like the sweat on his face. He still was losing weight, thanks to the help of some other special people in his life. but we had to be on him all the time about everything. He was still losing weight but it was a BATTLE. A roller coaster ride. However, in the past two weeks he has turned a corner. He has become an "I CAN" kind of guy. Yes, I still need to coach him up and remind him he can from time to time. Yes the doubt still creeps in his mind once in a while. You can still see it on his face sometimes but, a quick "YOU GOT THIS" or "WHY ARE YOU DOUBTING YOURSELF?" and he is right back on track. He has walked an average of 20,000 steps for the last 6 days. He is accomplishing things he never thought he could do. These may seem like small and insignificant to some but to him they were mountains. Mountains he now stands on top of. He no longer fights me. He comes to work out with a smile and a confidence he didn't have before. He is down 39 pounds to 346. We still have a long way to go but he is a success story already. This is one of many success stories unfolding in my life through Higher Calling Fitness and a weight-loss company I work for. These stories are why I do this work. From clients losing weight to the older lady telling me she got to enjoy shopping with her granddaughter for the first time in years. God called me to this profession not only to help people but also that I would grow in Christ through my client's success. Higher Calling Fitness is not only about the exercise it is also about the Higher Calling that we all have. Our Passion...Your Results. That is our motto. Let my passion for Christ and for helping others get you the results you want.
